Night thoughts

Wednesday, January 25, 2006
This is going to be a very quick post cause I am exhausted beyond comprehension after 6 days in Borneo of non-stop action. Need sleep, but i think I am a little numb and over 'the hill'. Weeheee... party!! Ok, I am going to sleep so well after this.

Borneo is absolutely amazing. Anyone (esp Peninsular Malaysians!!) who hasn't been there should spend at least a week there. So much forest (think of all the oxygen) beautiful people (that's what Malaysia should be all about), safe and clean (much more than KL anyways) and so different. It was great cause i felt like I was on holiday, cause it is so different to KL, but could speak the language and converse with 'the locals' (and get to impress the europeans. Haha..) . Gotta love that. Have lots and lots of pictures I'm dying to put on the computer for a closer look.

And of course there is that certain sense of relief and happiness and also the backlog of tiredness that comes with being home. In some ways, I really miss Adelaide. The simpleness and organized-ness. And of course I miss Mark. Have been trying not to think about it, but I've known him and spent so much time with him since I got to Australia, that it feels so wierd not having him around. He's such a great companion, to say the least. And he sent the sweetest message today saying that he's lived most of his life without me, but now that I'm in it, he can't live life without me. OK, I'm not fond of girls who 'boast' about how amazingly incredible their boyfriends are and the million wonderful things he's done, but I loved the simpleness and sincerity of that sms. Especially cause I feel the same way and I know he means it. Nothing worse that empty words.

To end this post, I was talking to the girls about my wanting to study / work in Europe. It's something I should give more thought sooner or later cause now that i know so many people from that part of the world, I think it would be so great to see how they live. Plus, if i want to do a masters or another degree there, it's free! Just have to learn the language, which I want to anyway. Am attempting to learn German, very very slowly, but I think it would be so unique to be able to talar Svenska (speak Swedish). Doens't seem to be a very difficult language, and it would be something special!

Ok, now that random thoughts are out of my head, time to get some shut eye. Maybe pedicure tomorrow and Zouk at night with Jason, Sandy and Ilona and Sofia? Sounds great! =)

Night, world.

Of holidays and sleeping and things in-between

Sunday, January 08, 2006
Holidays are great, especially 3 month ones. Have been back for slightly more than a month, and am happy-tired. Been sleeping heaps, of course. I love how i can really, really sleep here and not worry about the pool or cleaning or answering the door or going to class or washing dishes or ......

First few days back in Msia were very very relaxing. It is always great to see the family again, and marvel at my ever-growing brothers and having long chats with my mom and enjoying my dad's company. Nothing like family.

Then Mark comes over! Earlier this year, before any real plans were made and before flights were booked, I was giving up hope at him coming to spend Christmas with me because of work. Bloody work! Who needs to work! Everyone should be a bum. hehe... But he managed to get some time of and Meet The Parents. Went amazingly well. Yes, I would get heart palpitations when thinking about it earlier, but I figured that this is the man I love, and who is such a huge part of my life. Of course my family will love him. =) I just love how he is so easy-going and able to hold intelligent conversations with anybody and anyone and how he is so at ease in any situation. And how he can direct me when I'm driving. =P I absolutely enjoyed the time he spent here. To put it one way, I'm in 'his territory' 99% of the time in Adelaide, and I am part of his life. But it's so nice to show someone the place you've grown up in and the nitty-gritties that make me ME. I love Adelaide to bits, but there's always something special about home.

And on to Singapore. Me doing what i do best. =P

After a lot of shopping for him (he morphed into a shopaholic here!) and waaay too much eating, we headed down to Singapore for more shopping and eating cause that's where he was departing from. I haven't been to Singapore in years, and the last time i remember going down was when I was a kid. It's an amazingly structured, ordered and almost robotic society. Stuff like their politeness and willingness to talk to you, and how they spit-polish even the kopitiam tables and the cleanliness of it all just amazed me. It's funny how Malaysia and Singapore are practically siblings, and yet, they are the complete opposite in some ways. Stayed with his friend, Rajen in an apartment he was sort-of sharing with his bro-in-law who is migrating to Perth next week. I reckon i would be so depressed living in an apartment. No privacy, all those friggin stairs, noise from the street....... =P Bought a saree from Little India, was quite fascinated with the place. That's about all I bought, really, as opposed to my darling and his overweight baggage *smirk* Oh! He got a really really nice camera from Sim Lim, Fuji Finepix Z1. I think it's a really good camera that suits him to a tee! Very elegant and not too many features. I want my Exilim too!!!! Saw that the new model, S600 is out. But the Z750 is so nice as well.... *drool*

Lunch in Chinatown at a Szechuan restaurant. They eat chilli like they'll die without it! Mark looking just a teeny bit hungover?

Some diced chicken Szechuan style. Scary stuff!

Shanghainese dinner with Lorraine and KC. He then took us on a 2 hour tour of Singapore in his car. North to South, East to West. Red light district too!

Then to end our last night, drinks at Acid Bar. I was feeling a bit weird after dinner and the car ride, so I got the dessert in the middle. Brownies and icecream.... Yumm!!

But anyway, he's gone home now. I'm freee!!!! Just kidding... I will really really miss him. We spend so much time together and we enjoy each other's company so much it feels like a chunk of me has been removed. 2 months of apart-ness. This will be like our version of a LDR. Not very fun. But well, a working man's gotta do what a working man's gotta do. =P And his non-working girlfriend has to accept that, and look forward to working full-time someday too. Not!

Ok, let me get some sleep before the sun rises......
